79-Year-Old Savagely Mauled by Three Dogs in Georgia

Another major dog attack has occurred in Georgia, and the latest victim is a 79-year-old woman. This incident highlights how dangerous canines have become in the Peach State, and dog owners must be more careful about how they train and restrain their animals. While owners may face criminal consequences for allowing these attacks to occur, victims may also seek compensation through civil courts by filing dog accident lawsuits in Marietta.

Elderly Woman Had “Wounds Like a Shark Attack”

In early May of 2025, the elderly woman was walking down a dirt path in Georgia when three dogs approached. A savage attack ensued, and the senior suffered multiple wounds. Somehow, she was able to walk to a neighbor’s home and seek refuge. The victim’s niece says that she was attacked from behind and that the dogs mauled her in various places across her body. Once the victim reached the safety of her neighbor’s house, she collapsed and waited for first responders to arrive.

Paramedics treated her most severe wounds after arriving at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital for more intensive medical care. The victim’s niece says that these wounds looked like something you would see after a shark attack. The family says she now faces a long period of “repair, reconstruction, and recovery” while staying at the hospital.

A subsequent report noted that she had endured four separate medical procedures after the attack. In the aftermath, the victim also told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution exactly what happened during the attack. The dogs succeeded in knocking her to the ground, forcing her to adopt the fetal position to protect her vital areas. But this didn’t stop the dogs from biting into her body, their teeth reaching down into the bone and tearing away large chunks of flesh.

She also noted that the dogs only stopped their assault when their apparent owner appeared. The man told the woman to call an ambulance and gave her a sweatshirt to cover her wounds, but he didn’t stay to offer any further assistance.

A police investigation has not yet turned up any clues about this man’s identity. However, one of the dogs reportedly had a microchip linked to a man in Covington. Law enforcement agencies have remained quiet about the progress of their investigations.

The Journal-Constitution suggests that the animals could be linked to a nearby group of vagrants, who had apparently been squatting in a vacant home. Neighbors say that these individuals had problematic dogs. Although local residents informed the authorities about the vagrants, no one seems to have taken any action.

Residents became increasingly concerned about the vagrants and their dogs, noting that an elementary school was not far away. Many are not surprised by the recent attack, suggesting that it was only a matter of time.

Perhaps as a result of this attack, the home that the squatters had been living in was finally demolished. Hopefully, this will mean that these negligent dog owners will no longer have the ability to harm the local community. Of course, similar situations are probably playing out across the entire state.
