Negligent Drivers Cause Serious Crashes in Cobb County

Over the past few days and weeks, negligent drivers have caused mayhem on the streets of Cobb County. Some of these accidents have resulted in serious injuries, while others have led to deaths. To make these incidents even more traumatic for victims and their families, some of the guilty drivers fled the scene without stopping. These Cobb County car accidents highlight just how dangerous it has become to drive in Georgia.

Hit-and-Run on I-285 Results in Serious Injury

In late May of 2025, the Cobb County Courier reported that a serious hit-and-run had occurred on I-285. The crash began when the driver of a Kia changed lanes, striking a GMC in the process. The drive of the GMC veered into the center median barrier, crashing and coming to a halt in the middle of the road. After the collision, the driver of the Kia continued without stopping.

The impact with the median barrier caused serious injuries for the driver of the GMC. The 57-year-old was hospitalized after the incident, and one passenger in the vehicle suffered what first responders referred to as “non-life-threatening injuries.” Unfortunately, the Cobb County Police Department has been unsuccessful in its pursuit of the Kia driver. As of this writing, law enforcement is asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

Hit-and-runs continue at a frightening pace in Cobb County, and they reflect the lack of responsibility and basic decency displayed by drivers today.

Man Jailed After Crashing His Car into Someone Else’s Home

Another alarming incident in May involved a man crashing his car into someone else’s home. This Marietta car crash caused “serious damage” to the home in question. A tow truck arrived at the scene to pull the destroyed vehicle out of the wreckage, but the driver was nowhere to be found. Images from the scene show the SUV with extensive damage to its front section. The home in question suffered considerable damage to its lower corner, suggesting that the foundation might have been damaged. The owners say that they might have to demolish the entire structure.

Thankfully, local police were able to locate the man responsible. They found him loitering near a store by the residence, and his “obvious injuries” helped officers determine he was the one driving. Officers noted that the defendant also appeared to be in an “altered state,” and this was enough to cause his arrest. Aside from this individual, no one inside the home was harmed. However, people were sleeping inside the residence when the crash occurred, and it could have been much worse.

The owners say that although this incident was shocking, it is hardly surprising. They have been struggling with negligent drivers for some time, and they say that their road is particularly dangerous. One of the residents says she has been trying to convince the city to install stop signs or guardrails around her cul-de-sac, but to no avail.
