Georgia has seen a worrying string of dog attacks in recent weeks. Some of these dog attacks have left seniors traumatized, while others have left children permanently disfigured. Some recent dog attacks have also led to permanent disabilities for other dogs, highlighting the wide-ranging consequences of this issue. Whether it’s a dog attack in Cobb County, Atlanta, or Morgan County, these incidents can lead to permanent physical and psychological consequences.
Dog Attack in Cobb County Leaves Pomeranian Severely Injured
In June of 2025, WSB-TV 2 reported that a dog attack in Cobb County had led to near-fatal injuries for a Pomeranian. The incident occurred at a veterinary hospital, and the owner of the aggressive dog is now facing criminal charges.
The Director of Cobb County Animal Services states that the photographs from the incident are extremely disturbing, noting that the small Pomeranian was “eviscerated” by the much larger German Shepherd. The Director also explained that if it were not for immediate medical intervention, the attacked animal would have died.
Authorities say that the attack occurred because the German Shepherd was not on a leash. With no restraints, the animal was able to approach the Pomeranian and launch its brutal attack. The owner of the German Shepherd did not remain at the scene, and she instead fled with her animal after the attack. Her attempt to dodge accountability earned her a criminal charge of reckless conduct.
According to Animal Services, the animal will somehow avoid being labeled a “dangerous dog” after this incident. Apparently, the victim dog would need to die for this label to be applied. In addition, WSB-TV noted that this is the second time the German Shepherd has attacked this specific Pomeranian within a few months.
Although this incident was highly disturbing, it could have been much worse. Imagine if the victim had been a small child instead of a small dog.
4-Year-Old Suffers “Severe Lacerations” After Morgan County Dog Attack
Also in June, a four-year-old girl was savagely attacked by a pair of Rottweilers in Morgan County. Authorities say that the dogs belong to the victim’s grandparents, and the attack occurred while the child was playing in a backyard. The minor suffered “deep lacerations” across her head, including one cut near her eye. It is likely that these scars will become permanently disfiguring.
To her credit, the 71-year-old grandmother attempted to stop the attack by shielding the small child with her body. As a result, the senior woman suffered numerous dog bite injuries. Authorities noted that both Rottweilers were euthanized after this incident. The family had owned them for years.
Georgia Couple Traumatized After Dog Attack
In related news, an elderly couple has experienced significant trauma after being attacked by three dogs on their property. The incident occurred on Memorial Day, and it was captured by the couple’s surveillance cameras. The husband is now reportedly carrying a pistol every time he leaves his house due to the fear instilled in him. That said, the footage clearly shows that these are relatively small dogs.
